Live Clothing Unboxing on Periscope!

Since my recent obsession with periscope I have been scoping everything! I mean it's just so fun! I love unboxing new arrivals on periscope, I think the unboxings might be some of my favorites! Today I had a shipment with two new items, a romper and a dress, the romper by far won the favorite vote from the scope crew!

                       

I must say I do LOVE this romper! It is summer perfection!  There is a fun mix of pastel and light neon colors. It's flowy and breezy with lined shorts and a semi sheer top. See More Here. 

I took approximate measurements of this romper. Measured laying flat from the center of the neck (where the tag typically is) to the bottom : Small 33", Medium 34", Large 35"

My tips for styling this romper:

• Pair it with fun white sandals for a simple clean look.
• Dress it up with some bright turquoise, royal blue, or mint heels!
• Add a white blazer to make it a bit more profesional
• The top of this romper is not lined. You could pick an accent color from the romper patern and wear a cammi under for a fun pop of color or just use white or tan! 
• In the picture above I am not wearing a cammie just a neautral color bra and I have pinned the front so there are no oops moments!
• Adding a snap button to the front of open top rompers (or dresses) is a wonderful and even more convenient idea then always using a safety pin!
• Accentuate your waist by adding a fun belt!

Styling a Denim Dress

A few days ago on my new addiction Periscope I was unboxing some new clothing and everyone's least favorite item from the shipment was my absolute fav! I have been wanting a good denim dress for a while now and I took a chance by ordering it online but boy did it pay off. The dress I got is so super comfy and ladies IT.HAS.POCKETS. Enough said.

Gals I'm in love with it. I have to stop myself from wearing it every single day. I did a little pinning and found some awesome ways to style a denim dress! Here are a few of my favorites below.

Here are some of my styling suggestions!

• Belt it up! You can instantly dress up this look with a simple belt! Black, Brown, or maybe a neon color, it's really up to you and what you're going for.
• Dress it up with heals! You can easily take this from day to night by switching from flats to heals.
• Transition it to fall with some boots + a scarf! This is really one of those pieces you can wear year round. Add your favorite ankle boots and a light scarf to wear this dress into the fall.
• Wear it in Winter with leggings + a sweater. As you can see in the second pic a denim dress looks effortlessly cool paired with your favorite sweater, leggings, and boots! Side note: Socks out of boots is my favorite.
• Dress it up even more with accessories! We already pointed out how heals can dress up this look. If you add a striking clutch, maybe gold or sequined and a sparkling statement necklace or earrings you just took this to a whole other level!

Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth

A week ago I asked my Periscope friends to recommend a foundation they loved. One of the first responses was the Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth. Perfect! Not only could I just swing by Target and grab a bottle but I had never tried it! 

I'm not gonna lie I was a little nervous to try something with the word 'dewy' in the name. My foundation choices usually contain the words 'matte' or 'full coverage' not sure why but I always seem to lean toward those terms when it comes to my makeup. Let me just say before I tell you what I think about this foundation. ONE: This is just my opinion. You might try this foundation and love it, or think its garbage, or think it's nothing like I have described. And that is why I like to try things for myself! TWO: I am no makeup expert. I am just a girl who likes to wear makeup and try new things. Think of it as your best friends thoughts on a makeup.

Okay my honest opinion: I love this for a light summer foundation. It gives you a soft luminous finish, plus it has SPF 18. I love foundations that have sunscreen! I picked the lightest shade available since I am very fair, porcelain 110, and I think it was a pretty decent match. I don't recall wearing a foundation and still being able to see my freckles which I love for summer. I like my freckles and every once in a while I don't mind showing them off! for a light foundation I think it wore very well. I did always use a face primer and powder with it, however I was not applying powder throughout the day. I don't think I would make this my all the time foundation but it will definitely go in the rotation for day trips and light makeup days! And for only around $6 I'll take it. 

The only downside I see is that if you have oily skin the dewy part could be a problem. For me I kind of liked the dewy finish but I could see how that could be a downside for someone with oily skin. The Fit Me Dewy only has a 3.1 rating on Makeup Alley, but I always like to read reviews and remember that it's just one persons opinion.

Shrimp Fest 2015

It's almost here! The 2015 Shrimp Festival is less than a week away! This time next Saturday Downtown will be bustling with people, music will fill the streets, and yummy local shrimp will abound! Coastal Cinema 10 : Yulee, FL

The new theater is here! Going to the movies is one of my favorites, so I am super excited that there is a brand spanking new theater right down the road! Wednesday night I had the opportunity to attend a party at the new theater and it did not disappoint! 

The theater has merged the ticket line and concessions line into a one stop deal. There's no waiting in line for tickets and then running over to get your popcorn, you purchase everything at the same counter once you've entered the theater.
  

Movie times and ticket prices are displayed on the screens above the concession stand. As well as prices for popcorn and other snacks! I got a $20 popcorn bucket that is refillable for the year at just $4 a refill! 

You can fill your own icee and drinks! I love the Coca Cola Freestyle machines! It does make it hard to choose between Vanilla or Cherry Coke though! 

And what's even more exciting is the beer and wine selection! That's right folks the new theater has adult beverages! Beer ranges from $4.50 to $5.50, and wine from $6 to $9.

Love is in the Air Downtown

Tomorrow is the big love day! Love it or hate it's here and if you are like me and love all of the hearts, pink, red, chocolate, and flowers Downtown Fernandina Beach is your one stop shop! If you are looking for some Valentine flowers that are a bit out of the normal look no further than Seed Bombs from Kayak Amelia's Gift Shop Downtown! Just throw and grow! Each little perfectly packaged bag has 5 seed bombs! You can throw them in a pot or throw them around your yard!

You can't go wrong with a chocolate spoon from Fantastic Fudge, or any chocolate from there for that matter! But my fav is definitely these spoons! Go there after dinner and have a hot chocolate or add one of these perfectly packaged spoons to your special someones gift, they are sure to love it!

The best way to discover them is to get out and explore for yourself!

January Surprise!

It's hard to believe that it's already February and Spring is well on it's way! January was full of fun and lots of surprises! During the first of the year it's a little slow on the island so I take that time to get organized and take some time off for a vacation because January is my birthday! Yes the whole entire month is my birthday, that's just how it goes y'all! With the time off and the fact that I don't like talking about myself I've put off posting this for a bit, but here it goes! One of the events I look forward to every January is the Amelia Island - Fernandina Beach - Yulee Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Dinner! It is a fun night with friends and colleagues where you can celebrate and recognize businesses in our community. I was thrilled to be nominated along with 4 other young business leaders by people in the community for the AIFBY Chamber of Commerce Young Business Leader of the Year! I honestly could not believe that I had been nominated for the 2nd year in a row! 

To make the evening even more exciting I was honored to be selected from the group of 5 amazing young leader nominees in our community as The Young Business Leader of the Year! It is such a huge honer to be recognized by the AIFBY Chamber with such a prestigious award.

I see this award as something to push me to be an even better business leader in 2015. To promote not just myself but the other wonderful businesses that I am surrounded by in our little community. When small businesses work together to promote one another it is a beautiful thing that helps our community grow and small businesses to succeed.

I have to also give a thank you to everyone who sent such wonderful notes of congratulations and Edible Arrangements for their wonderful gift! I was so surprised to receive a yummy box of chocolates delivered right to my shop! 

The AIFBY Chamber is such a wonderful resourse for local businesses. Being a member has offered me so many opportunities to network with other business owners in the community and promote my boutique Colie's. A Chamber membership is something that should not be overlooked, it is truly a valuable business resource and I am proud to be a member! Also if you are a young business professional in the community you do not want to miss the new network they have put together just for us! I attended the Young Professionals Launch Party last month and it was wonderful! A great place to network with other young professionals! 

Thanks again to the AIFBY Chamber for choosing me for this wonderful award! I hope to make this year better than last!
